About the Workplace

The Security and Preparedness Unit at Sala Municipality is a central part of the municipality's work to create a safe and resilient society. The unit strengthens the municipality's resilience during crises and extraordinary events and ensures that operations and municipal companies function even in disruptions. We develop and coordinate the municipality's crisis preparedness, civil defense, and security work by identifying risks, planning continuity work, and conducting exercises and training.

The unit acts as a support function and collaborates closely with internal and external actors, including authorities, businesses, and volunteer organizations, to strengthen preparedness and crisis management. The work is dynamic and alternates between long-term planning and rapid interventions as needed. As part of the team, you will work strategically to increase the community's resilience.

Job Responsibilities

As a preparedness coordinator, you will drive and coordinate preparedness issues within the municipality. You will serve as a qualified support and play a central role in developing the municipality's preparedness work. Job responsibilities include planning, developing, and coordinating the municipality's work with crisis preparedness and civil defense, as well as drafting and updating relevant governing documents. You will support operations in developing continuity plans and collaborate with authorities, businesses, and other actors in the total defense area.

Furthermore, you will have an important role in conducting risk and vulnerability analyses (RVA), training relevant operations, and planning and conducting exercises in the preparedness area. You will also support the municipality's crisis preparedness work and may participate in and support the municipality's crisis management organization as needed.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a relevant academic education in crisis preparedness, total defense, community safety, or a related field. Alternatively, you have other education combined with experience that the employer deems equivalent. You should have experience in coordination and leadership within crisis preparedness, continuity management, or total defense, preferably within municipal operations. To succeed in the role, you need to understand legislation and regulations in the area, work independently, and be able to drive development work. Since the position involves collaboration with many actors, both internally and externally, you need to have good collaboration skills and experience in cooperation. You should also have a very good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish. A driver's license (B) is required.

It is an advantage if you have experience in continuity planning and/or risk and vulnerability analyses, as well as training from the Swedish Defence University, MSB, or equivalent in crisis preparedness and total defense. Experience in leading training and exercises is a plus, as is work in municipal or public operations.

The person we are looking for is an initiative-taking, analytical, and structured individual. You find it easy to build relationships and enjoy working both strategically and advisory. Furthermore, you are solution-oriented and have a good ability to handle complex issues in a changing environment. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.

Employment Conditions

Specify employment conditions: Permanent. Start date by agreement. Individual salary setting.

Probationary employment may be applied. The position entails a military placement in the municipality. The position of preparedness coordinator may be classified according to the Security Protection Act.
